A few customers in the Vault and one gentleman drinking mild in the corridor. We went to sit in the parlour but the management were in the middle of hanging Christmas decorations so we made ourselves comfortable in the little snug at the back past the toilets. We were told that there were only nine pubs left selling cask Holts mild but we were not sure whether that was for the whole estate or just the local area.

1300hrs we decided to pop in here on the way to The Grapes. One other customer plus staff putting up Christmas decorations. The back bar is devoid of most of it's furniture due to a pool table installed which has since been withdrawn through lack of use.

We chose to sit in the back bar which is situated down the corridor past Gentlemen's lavatories for no other reason than we had not drunk in that one before. This pub is always welcoming, and is one that I always visit when in the area.

A small busy pub in Liverpool Road, with a popular public bar at the front, a wonderful tiled corridor drinking area, and two more small comfortable rooms. This pub won a local CAMRA award for being a traditional unspoilt local. Grade II listed.
We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
