12.00 opening and the first customer in CAMRA's pub of the season. I have to ask myself why in this corporate feeling clinical restaurant with a bar with an unexciting beer range. My cynical views assume bribery afoot and vindicates my leaving the organisation many years ago!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00AcceptableFound this rather watery with just a hint of the expected Harvey's-ness flavours.

Early afternoon - sat in the sunny front garden and watched the landlord put out “overflow car park” signs for a gender reveal party. Apparently that is a thing in England now.

Late afternoon stop. Having taken the bus round what seemed like every road in Hawkinge a couple of us decided to break the journey back to Canterbury. Bladders rather than thirst the deciding factor. A wake finishing off in the restaurant. We behaved ourselves accordingly.

Mid-afternoon, quiet but pleasant. I sat in a window seat and flicked through the pub newspaper.

Late lunchtime - a few diners in. Nice feel to the place - public bar with wood burning stove and comfy seats.

Didn't plan on coming here but the bus was going past. Very busy in the front bar with an assorted clientele.

It was a lovely afternoon and Jane and Isabel met me after work and we drove down to Denton. We sat in the main bar and had some early dinner.

Recently been taken over, and redecorated. Nice front bar for drinking, and a more posh dining area. large selection of beers. New people seem nice, they also have the Duke of Cumberland in Barham

Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20ExcellentLovely pint of Spit here, a nice malt taste which stays with you until your next sip/gulp

Came for a meal in the evening. There were a few people scattered about, some at the bar, some in the restaurant. I like this pub. It's friendly, cosy and has a good range of beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter5.60ExcellentWhat an excellent pint this was - so good I stuck with it all night. It had a good wood-resin and black malt taste with hints of dark fruit. There was a milky undertone that carried the black malt really well. However, the £3.20 a pint price tag was a bit steep
Nelson - Dogwatch Stout4.50UndrinkableHaving seen David's review of this beer here I was pleased to see it on and looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately it had turned to vinegar. They replaced my pint with no fuss and took the beer off

A very nice pub, planned on just having a couple of pints but ended up staying for dinner too. Lovely food, well worth it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Winter Solstice4.20ExceptionalA brilliant beer, very flowerly. Not a typical winter beer but very nice all the same
Nelson - Dogwatch Stout4.50ExceptionalOne of the best stouts I've tasted in a long time. Deep chocolate flavour, very good.
Loddon - Razzle Dazzle4.30GoodA nice beer but over shaddowed by the others I tasted. A nice light ale with a moderatly hoppy flavour.
