Evening visit, plenty of diners in the right hand bar and a mix of diners and drinkers in the left hand one. I had a good chat with the barman who is a keen real ale fan.

What a change! The last time I was in this pub-years back-it was dark and malelovent. Now it's light and well, soulless. Mainly set up for dining, it badges itself as a restaurant and bar. A Saturday lunchtime, a shooting party were having problems identifying their wellies.

A quiet Wednesday lunch time, there was a large array of tall keg fonts, and a few handpumps without any clips on them. I feared that there would be no real ale, but Harveys was available.
