Mid evening a few drinkers dotted about in this behemoth of an unspoilt ex LCC estate boozer, just a few of these sadly left in existence.

10 Aug 2018 (ChrisE)
I was the first customer at opening time, just the one beer on today as I was told that they had been very busy and had run out of several beers. I sat in a corner and read the August/September edition of London Drinker.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Special (was Special)4.50GoodIn good condition and not too expensive at £3.80 per pint.

1330 and quiet upon our arrival only two other customers, ChrisE being one of them as he'd arrived on an earlier train. I used the word 'quiet' as in the context of busy-ness, whereas noise levels were fairly high with the barman's children using the place as a playground, however they were soon dispersed elsewhere shortly after our arrival allowing us to soak up the atmosphere of this splendid timewarp pub. This was short lived as a local came in and decided he wanted to watch Countdown at full volume so we drank up and left.

Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Special (was Special)4.50GoodThis was all on offer today - it could've been much much worse....

Must do this pub sometime I've said to myself umpteen times passing by on the train thus here I am and glad I have. Late afternoon a dozen or customers. Football on TV muted therefore not disturbing the peaceful environment. The landlord is a CAMRA member.

The pub is found in South Kenton, Greater London, HA9 8QT.

CAMRA National Inventory pub in Windermere Avenue with good example of interwar interior. Cask ale is now a regular fixture, mainly from the Eagle Brewery (Young's and Courage brands) empire. Built in 1939 with three bars, the public is now only used for functions. The saloon and lounge have many original features including the large inner porches, bar counters, back-fittings, wall panelling and fireplaces. A short hop, skip and jump from South Kenton railway station.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 6 different beers and tried 5 of them.
