Here for a works skittle evening. Lovelyt garden bordered by a little stream. The landlord provided an excellent curry at £5 a head. Frustrating game this skittles is - but great fun.

Not too busy so we were able to get a seat looking over the garden. I like this pub but am always surprised by how narrow the bar is!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Archers - Real Lager4.00GoodLager coloured surprise surprise. Very astringent flowery citric bitterness to it. Not sure I could drink very much of this

Here with Andrew, Jane and Martin. A bit quiet on a late Saturday lunchtime, but I did like both the interior and exterior of this pub. The garden is quite large with a pub skittle alley to one side. 4 hand pumps on the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Archers - Real Lager4.00AcceptableGolden with white head. Dusty hop aroma, bit of hay. Reminded me of Fuller's Discovery. Fur coat, no knickers

Popped in about 9pm for a quick half and the place was packed. We were lucky to get a seat and there were plenty of people standing around the bar. A very friendly pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Ward's Best Bitter4.00GoodSoft and appley with low level malt and a base bitter finish. A good session beer I would guess

Young's - St George's Ale4.30Not TriedI went to try it but it ran out as they poured.

Sunny Saturday lunch time so we sat out in the lovely back garden. The garden is far enough away from the main road that all you can hear are the sea gulls and the wind in the chestnut tree.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80GoodVery fruity, hoppy and fresh with a hit of apple. Pale golden in colour.
Hydes - Celebration4.00AcceptableA sweet bitterness to start with followed by lots of malt on the finish. Again, not my kind of beer
Brakspear (at Marston's Wychwood) - Special4.30AcceptableDark brown bitter with hops and some malt. Not my kind of beer really.
Greene King - Abbot5.00Not Tried

Visited about 9pm on a Tuesday night and it was busy. This was probably due to the pub quiz they were having. It had a friendly feel to it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Archers - Farmer's Boy3.80ExceptionalGolden brown with a nice gentle fruity bitterness to it. The finish was of rich caramel malt. I was really reminded of Goacher's Light at its best when I drank this. In fact I would have sworn that this was Goacher's Light in a blind tasting.
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80Not Tried
Greene King - Abbot5.00Not Tried
Cottage - Cromwells Revenge4.20Not TriedAlthough I didn't have this I did have a sip and it reminded me of Larkins Porter
