On a warm evening, the garden was very busy and there was a party underway upstairs – but the main bar was almost empty. An expensive pub by Bristol standards.

Very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Combe (formerly Braydon) - Mooned Up Mild3.60GoodDark brown mild with a strong malt flavour consisting of crystal and chocolate malts. Any hop flavour drowned out by the malts. Dry finish. My score 15/20.
14 May 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
A steady stream of people arriving to watch the FA cup final upstairs.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Combe (formerly Braydon) - Mooned Up Mild3.60GoodDark brown mild with good chocolate malt flavour and a little hoppiness in the finish. My score 15/20.

Most people drinking in the garden. Had an interesting chat with the landlord about beer and mild and he gave me a sample of the Arbor mild mixed with brandy which one of his regulars swears by. It made for a more mellow drink, taking the edge off the toasted malt.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arbor Ales - Mild West3.60ExcellentDark brown mild with an intense roasty toasty malt character balanced with a little fruitiness. My score 16/20.
Arbor Ales - Festival Mild5.20ExcellentA small sample given to me by the landlord to compare with the normal version. This was more mellow, with more sweeter body but still with good chocolatey and roast malt character. My score 17/20.
