Mid afternoon - very busy outside in the sun. Very dark inside - I couldn’t read the hand pumps. After 3.90 a pint at the Holly Bush I wasn’t prepared for a £5.30 a pint. Location, location. Had a dark amber Oakham ale at 5.0% but couldn’t read the name! It was good. Think I’ll go less touristy next time in Nottingham.

Has been on my wish list for decades! Here with an old friend who has lived in Nottingham for ages - he confirms that this hasn’t changed. In just after noon so we were able to have a good look round this fascinating pub. Friendly efficient service. One other ale on - too dark to read the pump clip!
