Fairly busy, but most people were sitting in the courtyard so there was plenty of good seating in the bar area. I overheard one customer complaining because they don't do draught Guinness and he had to make to do with Marstons (keg)Oyster Stout instead.

The bar was empty until about twenty five of us turned up at once after a visit to the Hop Pole. We had not eaten so we bought all the sausage rolls that were on display on the bar, the barmaid informed us that there were another eight in the kitchen so we demolished those as well. The lady from the kitchen came out and offered us some Porter Cake made with cask porter for £1 per slice, these were demolished in minutes, and she very kindly went back in to the kitchen and prepared some fresh hot sausage rolls. There was a wooden pin of ale on the bar, which I think contained a rather special version of Chiltern 300 but unfortunately it was not ready to serve. By the time that we left the bar was beginning to get quite busy.

Quiet, early lunchtime trade. A smart peaceful haven just off the Market Square (except that the peace was broken by one individual who held four shouted telephone conversations in quick succession).
