The Duke of Wellington sits right next to the Oyster Bar pub and they kind of share a yard. Because the match was on the yard was full and they weren't letting anyone else in. Turns out, like me, most people hadn't realised that the yard was split and there was a side entrance to the Old Wellington's bit that wasn't that full at all. Anyway, we eventually sat outside and bumped into an old mate of Mikes, James, who then came round on our tour. The Old Wellington is not bad at all.

Beautiful pub in a beautiful little square, right close to the cathedral and big wheel. Really popular pub and it's not surprising given the building and the beer line-up.

The pub is found in Manchester, Greater Manchester, M3 1SW.

In Cathedral Gates a pub that has been "on the move". It dates back to 1552 when it was close to the old market which was the centre of the town at that time. It is the only remaining timber framed building typical of Manchester at that time. Along with Sinclairs Oyster Bar it was raised on a concrete raft in a 1970s redevelopment of the old Shambles to make way for an underground access road. Both pubs moved again after the IRA bombing of 1996, this time about 120 yards to their current location and reopened in 1999.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 25 different beers and tried 7 of them.
