I really liked this place, it had a good mix of clientele, and appears to have changed little since it was built. Unfortunately I learned later in the day that the local council have plans to demolish the pub as part of a major redevelopment plan.

The pub is found in Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 6AD.

A 1960s style of pub which is part of the market complex. Comfortable open plan pub that looks as if it has changed little since it was built. NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED : The St Johns Tavern was situated on Ainsworth Street. This pub closed for good on Tuesday 11th January 2011 due to the forthcoming market redevelopment works by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. This pub is believed to have opened c. 1964 at the same time as the new market hall. It had two bars downstairs named the Jubilee Bar and the Corner Bar and originally an upstairs bar/restaurant, although this area closed in 1988. No plans appear to include a pub/bar in the new market development.

We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
