Joint beer festival in progress here, with the Swan up the road joining in as well. Deservedly popular throughout the afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Captain Cook - Red Bay4.00ExcellentSmooth and malty red ale with a sweetish taste and full bodied mouthfeel. My score 16/20.
Summer Wine (SWB) - Cossack Imperial Stout7.20ExcellentPowerful stout with intense roasted malt flavours combined with good hopping and an alcoholic dryness in the finish. My score 16/20.
Robinsons - Young Tom4.00AcceptableNow brewed at 4.2%, some sweetish malt, little hoppiness and a dryish finish. My score 14/20.
Brass Castle - Cliffhanger3.80AcceptablePale bitter with toffee malt flavours and some hop bitterness. Dryish finish. My score 14/20.
Revolutions - Ravenscroft3.30AcceptablePale golden bitter with a fairly bitter but rather thin flavour. Dry and astringent finish. My score 14/20.
Silver Brewhouse (formerly Raw) - Hop Bliss4.10AcceptablePale and bitter, no bliss for me as too bitter and hoppy for my taste. Very dry, harsh citrus hop finish. My score 13/20.
Towcester Mill (formerly Whittlebury) - Home Farm Bitter4.10AcceptableAmber bitter with a bitter flavour, some hoppiness and a dry finish. My score 13/20.
Yorkshire Heart - JRT Best Bitter4.20AcceptableSome maltiness in this pale bitter, but little hop flavour, giving a rather biscuity flavour. My score 13/20.
Riverhead - Red4.50AcceptableRed ale with a lot of crystal malt giving a bittersweet and slightly cloying flavour. Some hop in the dry finish. My score 14/20.

Friendly staff and locals made this pub a pleasure to visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Muirhouse - Sweet Like Chocolate5.00ExcellentThe clue is in the name, dark brown and chocolatey, the base beer being malty and not highly hopped, therefore putting it in the mild category. Quite a dry finish. My score 16/20.
