12:00 Met my mate from York outside and we waited for the doors to open at noon. Very welcoming. CAMRA discount offered based on my badged polo shirt. A group of five came in almost immediately after us. Not mentioned in this website's description of this pub is that the left hand bar is now Molly's Tea Room with uniformed waitress service.

1745 and having successfully retraced my steps, just time for one last ale before the 1829, and incredibly long, journey south [see below]. A very pleasant Batemans gbg, very friendly landlady and both ales sampled were spot on. (For the "bashers", the train South to KX was diverted, hauled by Diesel from Newark to Lincoln, then another to Posh', thence "normal service" to KX. A 3hr 20m diversion for a 1hr 25m journey!).

In Wharf Road, at one time called the The Ship Inn and this name still appears high up on the front wall. Formerly home to the now-closed Broadstone Brewery. The interior includes a long room warmed by a real fire and a second room with its own serving hatch through to the bar, which can be used for meetings. Frequent music nights are hosted. Outside is a large enclosed beer garden. Name reverted back to The Ship Inn eventually after a period as Rum Runner.
