16:20 Busy outside, less so in the front bar. One other group in the tramcar. On our tour today as has a fabulous interior and also because I wanted to check, and edit, the description on the CAMRA Heritage website.

17 Mar 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. In such traditional surroundings always think the beer range here disappoints with there being so many local micro-breweries that could provide the liquid victuals. Sat in Tramcar Bar for first time and admired the very fibrous looking maroon cushions.

11 Sep 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Second visit partly to elucidate the pub on how nearby The Cornubia actually was - just round the corner 150 yards away.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Skinner's - Betty Stogs Bitter4.00ExcellentQuick half to wash the London Pride away
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10PoorHorrible. No head, flat with lack of condition and strange taste and finished without much enthusiasm. Told barman but it was left on sale.

I had intended to visit the Cornubia, but it did not open until 18:00 so I came here instead. I sat in the snug and enjoyed a pint in peace and quiet before catching my train home.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Butcombe - Gold4.40GoodSlightly too sweet for my taste.

The pub is found in Bristol, Avon, BS1 6DE.

Unspoilt 15th century pub in Victoria Street, very convenient for Temple Meads railway station. There is a long narrow bar area which extends to the rear to the head high partitioned Tramcar Bar area with facing bench seats, with the toilets beyond this at the very back. In CAMRA's National Inventory of Unspoilt Interiors. Once an oasis for Courage Bitter Ale when that was as rare as hens' teeth, even in Bristol. 5 handpumps on the bar counter. Taken over by Good Chemistry Brewing in November 2022, after a long period of closure.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 11 different beers and tried 7 of them.
