Early evening and quite a good Monday night trade. Disappointed to be told that this chain no longer offers a CAMRA discount (although it seems that the bar-person was mis-informed and that a discount should still be available).
BeerABVScoreNotes
By The Horns - Old Smoke5.00ExcellentI finally got to try this beer in good condition and it is superb. Smokey and tea-flavoured it has an exceptionally long, flavoursome finish.
Brew By Numbers - 01/20 – Hallertau Blanc & Wai-iti5.30ExcellentServed from a key-keg. Has the colour and appearance of lemonade. Full of the goodness of hops.
By The Horns - Mick the Miller4.00AcceptableA middle-of-the-road, reddish beer.

Bustling with an after-work crowd in here at 8:30-ish.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arbor Ales - Triple Hop Series #194.00GoodHop-heavy golden beer with Cascade, Chinook and Galaxy hops. Tasty but somehow not great – slightly tired condition I think was the fault.
Tiny Rebel - In and Around the Mouth6.00GoodGolden and a bit hazy. By now it’s probably my palate that is a bit jaded rather than the beer itself.

Late-afternoon, ahead of the NYE crowds. Good to see that the four handpumps have been moved to a more prominent position on the bar. I was so surprised to see that the Bourbon Stout was only £2:75 a pint, that I forgot to ask for my CAMRA discount.
BeerABVScoreNotes
S43 (formerly Sonnet 43) - Bourbon Milk Stout4.30ExcellentBlack. Sweet lactose and obvious whisky tastes.
Sambrook's - Hop & Rye4.00ExcellentI like rye beers, and this has an obvious rye presence. Lemony-citrus too.
Firebrand - American IPA6.00GoodGolden, very fruity IPA.
Sambrook's - Wandle3.80Not Tried

Evening. First visit aborted - should have been site of SE London CAMRA Branch AGM but site had double booked the Tasting Rooms venue so we had to move to The Pommelers Rest.

I do like this pub, despite the cringing misspelling of Draught in its name. Crazily expensive though.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sambrook's - Wandle3.80GoodDecent session bitter with good body for its strength. Understated hops.
Dark Star - Black Coffee Pilsner4.80GoodA black beer with a creamy head and a smooth, light body. Strong coffee bean aroma and taste.

Second pub on crawl, 4:30pm. Quiet with just a couple small groups in. Excellent service from a friendly barman.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sambrook's - Wandle3.80GoodWould have been marked a lot higher but as at the Dean Swift the beer was served too warm.
Sambrook's - Pumphouse Pale Ale4.20GoodNew beer to me, suffered from being too warm.
