Late evening visit, my first for quite a while. Just good old fashioned standards here and an Irish fiddles band which seemed to play without a break for a long time. 11 ciders and 1 perry in addition to the real ales.

The pub is found in Forest Hill, Greater London, SE23 1JB.

On Stanstead Road served by several London bus routes. A traditional street corner with a superb unspoilt interior. There are still three separate rooms with a public bar on the corner, a saloon to the left and a large room running across the back of the pub. A snug/off-sales has been incorporated into the public bar but that seems the only major change since its 1920s refit. A quirky feature is that customers can cross through the servery from the back room to the saloon. This pub was listed in the CAMRA Regional Inventory for London then in February 2013 the pub was added to CAMRA's National Inventory Part One - a high accolade indeed. Voted SE London CAMRA branch Pub of the Year in 2012, 2015 and again in 2018. SPBW London Pub of the Year 2015. Real ale, cider and perry 10% price discount offered to card carrying CAMRA members. Handpumps in both public and saloon bar areas. Amazing cider / perry range here.

We have visited this pub 21 times, seen 28 different beers and tried 14 of them.
