Heard this place had re-opened free of tie although remaining a sheps house. The landlady is runs the Gemstone Brewery and is obviously pushing them through her new establishment.

My first visit here for very many years, I was surprised at how many people we knew in here with customers from various other pubs we know coming to talk to us.

Shepherd Neame - Late Red4.50AcceptableThe lady behind the bar said she was not sure whether this pint would be O.K. and she would change it if necessary, but it was quite acceptable.

18:45 visit. A rare call to this very old pub, the nice interior being the only thing of interest here, but we were passing the door and very quiet at this time.

19:30 visit. Very few people about, what with no public transport available. With some pubs not even opening up I pulled in here to see the first half of a live game and the Xmas ale was on too.

1930 visit. Not been here for a couple of years. New people in charge took over recently. Only myself and one other in, but the weekend line-up of live music looks to be their big draw. Only £3.30 a pint too.

The pub is found in Maidstone, Kent, ME15 6NA.

Conveniently situated in the town centre, the Fishermans Arms is a truly historic building, reputedly the oldest building in Maidstone, dated 1430. Fishermans Arms has its own resident ghost, known as Black Jack by the locals, a soldier who died in the building having been injured in a battle which took place nearby. Re-opened with new licensee in December 2015 effectively running it as a freehouse, promoting her own Gemstone ales - brewed at Nelson Brewery Chatham.

We have visited this pub 11 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 6 of them.
