16:30 visit. Another re-vist, fair crowd in at this time. Nothing new noted, but reasonable ale range on. A former gbg, five times previous in 2004/6/7/9/12.

Large open pub, friendly staff and locals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
George Wright - Blue Moon5.00ExcellentVery nice, very pale with a pure white head, excellent balance of full hops and malt. The finish was a bit lacking but this was a beer I could drink all evening.

Bizarre. There were a load of handpumps with pump clips on showing the beers, but only actually 2 beers on. One is GK Abbot Ale and the other is a cask conditioned French biere de gardes. The guy behind the bar at least had the good grace to be baffled.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brasserie de l Abbaye du Cateau - Vivat5.00AcceptableGold colour with thin off white head. French yeast aroma. Mix of tangerine and other citrus fruits. Quite juicy in mouth. Has all the hallmarks of a light blond biere de garde. Tangerine dry zest on finish is very pronounced.

Not sure why I came here, but I was pretty certain that I couldn't get a proper pint of beer after 23.00 anywhere else in the city centre. It still feels illicit though, to be drinking after 11 in the evening. I had too much coffee at 19.00 and was still hyper. Mind you there were more people in here for breakfast than for last orders
BeerABVScoreNotes
George Wright - Northern Lights4.20AcceptableCopper beer with lasting off white head. Nice. Bit perfumed. Bitter hop finish. I mean really bitter. Caramel on the aroma. Some creaminess in mouth and then really bitter finish. Yeah, it’s alright. Bit odd, but finish wins through
Three Rivers - Pilgrim's Progress4.20PoorGolden, thin white head. Citrus and weird cereal almost corny aroma. Corn runs into the mouth. Odd beer. Bit of rubber, not sure it is supposed to be like this. Bit nutty too
