19:47 First stop on an evening wander around Antwerp. Unusually there was plenty of room inside. Finding out the beers on offer involves a list in the window, various blackboards and a row of bottles on the bar. This is my personal favourite in Antwerp.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sint Canarus - De Maeght Van Gottem6.50ExcellentEach bottle has been dry hopped with a whole hop cone. The beer poured with a huge head and the hop flavour was intense.
De Ryck - Steenuilke6.50GoodUnusual pale ale flavoured with Woodruff, Angelica and Blackthorn.
Smisje - Big Bayou4.00GoodA beer with added Cajun spices. A tingle on the tongue from the peppers.

I’m back in Belgium again, on the way home after a two-day visit to the excellent Borefts Beer Festival in Bodegraven, Netherlands. It’s only 11am on a Sunday morning when we arrive here, but the pub is thronged – including with people on the way to another beer festival, this one in Geel.
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Ryck - Steenuilke6.50ExcellentA good, orange-coloured and quite spicy blond beer. Yeasty and a bit herbal.
Bockor - Omer Blonde8.00GoodCompetent, clean, pale beer – but nothing special.
Van den Bosche - Lamoral Triple8.00GoodA nice, pale, strong beer.

Early Saturday evening and there was a good crowd of locals in. We took some advice from the guy behind the bar who we had seen in the Dorstvlegel bottle shop just down the road. We had the Quintine Blonde in bottle after the Troubadour Blond on draught. Out of all the bars we went into, this seemed the closest to a typical British boozer
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Proefbrouwerji - Troubadour Blond6.50AcceptableGolden, thin white head. Yeasty, hoppy aroma. Fresh, creamy aroma. Fine in mouth, citrus/lemon/dry green hop finish. OK golden beer, drinkable enough. Bit of candy sugar

The pub is found in Antwerp, Belgium, 2000.

Excellent basic bar almost opposite Horta bistro and not far from the Rubens House Museum. Quite narrow with a bar to the right and seating around the outside. Tiled floor with cream ceiling and red formica topped tables. Attracts more locals than tourists and has the feel of a well run, well used bar. Good bottled list and some interesting draught beers. Associated with the Dorstvlegel bottle shop just down the road

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 6 different beers and tried them all.
