Late-evening and packed in here with live music and a manic atmosphere. Bizarrely though, the back room is completely empty and we sit there all alone for a short time feeling a bit uncomfortable.

16:30 Very good barman. Couple of other drinkers. I liked the large poster of Frank Zappa in the doorway.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kirkstall - Dissolution IPA5.00ExcellentSuperb beer with a good hop note. Would have been exceptional but for a little bit of sweetness that stopped it being a top notch IPA.

BeerABVScoreNotes
Ossett - Three Ridings Bitter3.80GoodClassic all encompassing pale bitter with crisp citrus hop flavours and a dry, bitter finish. My score 15/20.

My second ‘Hop’ pub of the day. This one is frantically busy – definitely on the evening circuit. But there is a quiet, almost secret, room at the back.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ufford - Black Hart4.80ExcellentA dry, roasted, black stout with a long bitter finish.
Fernandes - Ale To The Tsar4.10GoodPale. Both fruity and bitter.
Elland - How's That?3.70GoodPale and fruity with some hop character. Long fruity finish.

More Wakefield Beer Festival refugees found here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rat - Rattus Rattus4.30PoorA cloudy wheat beer with added spices, a type that I do not like. Therefore only 11/20 from me but it was true to style.
