A must do while in Deal - very busy for early evening, friendly welcome from the owner's daughter without prompting offered us 'beerboard' tasters of today's four. We perched outside on the window sill and soaked up the evening sun.

Early afternoon, I was surprised to find a friend from Essex in here who had decided to visit Deal on a whim. I was so surprised that I forgot to switch my 'phone off and had to forfeit £1 when it beeped to indicate that Mr. Pirrip had sent me an email.

Lunchtime visit soon after 12:00 opening and already busy. We had started our trip here because we thought it closed at 14:00 hours on a Tuesday but we were told that they are still on summer hours and open all day today.

Single roomed Micropub converted from a former shop. The pub’s name has been taken from Daniel Defoe’s account of the Great Storm of 1703. This pub opened on 14th December 2011 selling real ales, cider and some wine. This town centre pub is handy for the beach and Deal railway station. Usually 4 real ales on at any one time. Mobile phone use is more than frowned upon here - it is subject to a fine!
