Relatively quiet in the mid-evening. The televised golf had finished and I was not the only customer enjoying watching the University Challenge that followed for about twenty minutes. Then a staff member realised how terminally uncool the situation had become, muted the sound and whacked on some bland pop music.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harviestoun - Afterglow3.00AcceptableA golden beer with harshly bitter, hop-juice tastes but little in the way of backbone. Doesn’t challenge Redemption Trinity or Tap East Tonic in the 3% stakes.

My 1973 pub guide that I am carrying tonight lauds the “intimate atmosphere, the serpentine bar counter and the excellent twisted stair” at this pub. All three features have survived a recent closure for refurbishment.

The first of two Ships visited tonight, and I also walk past a now-closed pub that too was the Ship. Anybody might think that London was once a great maritime city.

The first stop on a City pubcrawl of (mostly) Nicholson's houses. It is very busy here and many are standing outside on a mild evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - Wayfarer IPA (Atlas range)4.40ExcellentAlthough all sources I've consulted give the strength of this beer as 4.4%, I wrote down 5.0%, which is what I thought I saw on the pumpclip. A golden-coloured, sweetish but also sharply hoppy beer with a thick mouthfeel.

The pub is found in City, Central London, EC3V 0BP.

This is a small pub, tucked away up an alleyway close to Monument station. Once a Barclay Perkins Brewery house, it is now part of the Nicholson's chain and shares that chain's good reputation for real ale. Has an upstairs bar and customers also invariably spill out into the courtyard at the front.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 30 different beers and tried 6 of them.
