10 Oct 2016 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening and a seemingly mostly tourist clientele, perhaps some of them staying at the hostel upstairs.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Redhead4.10AcceptableI was bounced into buying this when I didn’t like the look of my first choice beer. Not the sort of beer I like really; sweet, malty and untroubled by hops.

Caledonian - Autumn Red4.40Not Tried
Sharp's - Original4.40Not TriedI ordered a pint of this, but the first pint came up as a clear liquid. The second pint was vaguely beer-coloured and I was offered it but declined.

Early Sunday evening on returning to London after family business in Hastings. Every table is laid for food, although at this time nobody is eating. Like several others, I grab a table anyway and push cutlery out of the way.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Perhaps the busiest I have seen this pub so far – but it is considerably bigger than one might suppose at first glance, and there was plenty of room deeper in.

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 1NP.

For most of its history this was a Courage house called the Grapes, until acquired by the St Christopher’s chain of backpackers hostels. It may only be coincidental, but the pub stands more-or-less on the site of the historic Christopher Inn. It is deceptively large, with the small front bar leading into a much larger rear bar. There is also a downstairs lounge and outside seating in the passageway beside the pub. Expect to find beers from National brewers here through 5 handpumps. One of the latest pub closing-times in this area.

We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 32 different beers and tried 16 of them.
