Evening. Oh no the Lalor dynasty is over and the pub has had a heavy security door with metal shuttering surround fitted. At the Alexandra I was told David Lalor has shut up shop 3 weeks ago and retired to live in coastal Lincolnshire. One wonders what the future holds here.

Two visits in one day, first at lunchtime when the landlord was busy adorning the place with Christmas decorations, and then early evening for a quick pint before catching a train home. A great pub in which to enjoy a pint in good company,

The pub is found in Derby, Derbyshire, DE1 2SN.

A traditional style of house. One large bar with large pool table to one side. In the Railway Station district of the City. 4 handpumps on the bar counter. Famous for its Bass from the jug. Long standing licensee David Lalor ruled here until he left in December 2013. At January 2014 the pub is boarded up with a heavy security door and metal shuttering surround. After a period of closure the pub re-opened. Closed again March 2023 and apparently seeking new tenants.

We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 4 different beers and tried 2 of them.
