The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4V 5BY.
This little pub is tucked away in St Andrew’s Hill, close to St Paul’s Cathedral and Blackfriars station. It is built on, or close to, the site of a house once owned by William Shakespeare and quite possibly once did house a cock-fighting pit. But when cock-fighting was banned in 1849 the pub’s name changed to the Three Castles, only reverting to the Cockpit name in (I think) the 1970s. It was a Courage Brewery pub and still shows that brewery’s signage. Remarkably, given its location, this pub retains very much a locals’ pub feel.
We have visited this pub twice, seen 6 different beers and tried 2 of them.
