This pub is often overlooked as it is just that little bit out of town past the Magnet. However always a friendly welcome and keen service. Joseph Holt's Bitter at £2.20 p.p. is a permanent fixture.

The pub is found in Stockport, Greater Manchester, SK4 1HF.

Not to be confused with the other Railway pub in Stockport - Porter's Railway in Avenue Street in the Portwood district of the town (now closed). 2 separate bars including a more comfortably appointed saloon. 2 handpumps in the public bar and 3 in the saloon. This pub is located at the north end of the town on Wellington Road North and travelling towards Manchester is on the right hand side just past The Magnet. A two-bar pub which has, of late, got a very good reputation for its real ale. Always has Joseph Holt's Bitter on tap plus rotating other guest ales. Was deservedly the CAMRA Stockport and South Manchester Branch Pub of the Year for 2010. Has weekly jazz and open mic nights and supports various darts teams and runs a poker league.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 3 of them.
