A very welcome return of this event. Only listed beers tried since Kentish Ale has done a sterling job and beaten me to it. Must have been unlucky with my selections as I found the quality of some of the beers a little wanting. Fortunately the forecasted rain held off for much of the day and I returned with my first sunburn of the year. Amended Battledown Sunbeam to give it its full name :).

1230 visit. Our reason for being here today, a long awaited return of the annual Steam & Beer event. Did this way back in 2002 and have not had a chance to return until today. Due to other problems, the SKLR last put this on in 2008. A welcome return and again, nothing changes at all here. Discount admission for CAMRA members/OAP's, included a return journey on the old Bowaters Papermill Steam train plus, a free pint too? A good beer range with over 30 ales on plus Cider and Perry. Live music and good value food. Some Pot' rejects up here, but a shame that we didn't see good friend of SKLR, Dr Diesel, Tony would have liked this! A good session had by all and the weather was kind too. Recommended.

The Beer Festival is found in Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 2DZ.

A preserved and working industrial Steam Railway. Part of the original Bowaters papermill. This was quite an extensive system in its heyday. Today, a preserved, single line branch, runs from the now demolished mill and viaduct over the main road, and winds its way into the loco depot at the Kemsley end. Very atmospheric and well worth supporting. The mainline railway station, Sittingbourne, is an easy 5 minutes walk away.

We have visited this Beer Festival twice, seen 34 different beers and tried 16 of them.
