I originally just popped in here to ask directions, but the sight of five ales on handpump made me decide to have a drink as well. This pub is well worth a visit and I am glad that I came in, I was also advised of a useful short cut to the Moorlands pub.

Large traditional pub retaining its Matthew Brown Lion Ales windows, the pub is reputed to be the place where the Lancashire Witches (or Pendle Witches) were brought for a final drink before being hanged, and they are commemorated by a plaque outside the pub.
