Pretty busy at around 9pm on a Saturday evening. I seemed to be in doggers corner, meeting various mutts who had dragged their owners from as far away as West Bridgeford and Beeston to be here. Top notch pork pies.

It was Friday which meant that this pub would be open in the afternoon which suited me. Not much afternoon trade though.

I last came here many years ago when it was a Hardy Hansons pub. I thought I could smell brewing when I entered, the barman told me I was wrong because they have not brewed since yesterday. Apparantly this is a new brewery and the beers should be on sale in about a fortnight's time. It seems that I will have to return to Derby.

A good selection of ales in here, that is better on the day than some of its neighbours.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Firestarter3.80ExcellentA low stength black porter packed full of flavour for its strength. Bittersweet malt and hop combination with hints of roast and chocolate, leading to a dryish finish. My score 16/20.

A few locals in, joined by some beer samplers doing the Derby pub trail. Friendly welcome from the landlord.
BeerABVScoreNotes
