Very busy with after work office crowds. The fact that around another four pump clips were reversed suggests the level of preparation for the Friday evening rush was not all it might have been.

The pub is found in Wapping, Greater London, E1W 1UH.

Not everything about the Dickens Inn is entirely what it seems. Although it appears to be an ancient, galleried inn, it has in fact only been a pub since 1976. The original building was probably constructed as a warehouse (two dates are given – 1793 and 1870) and at one time belonged to the local Hoare & Co. Brewery. It was moved a few hundred yards and reconstructed at its present site between 1974 and 1976 as part of the regeneration of St Katherine’s Docks. By the early 1980s it was proving fantastically popular and was said to have the highest beer sales of any pub in London. Still very popular, it is an enormous pub, with drinking and dining on three levels, in a large outside area and also in an extensive modern extension to the side.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 6 different beers and tried 2 of them.
