Sunday morning and religious services seemed to be going on around every corner at this working Benedictine community (I guess that’s what they do). I tip-toed around the herb garden and had a peek at the abbey buildings before joining the group in the pub for a quick beer. Surprisingly busy given the early hour, with a number of rambling and cycling groups in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
de Smedt - Affligem Cuvée 9506.80GoodFrom a bottle. A special beer brewed to celebrate the 950th anniversary of the founding of the abbey. Golden and spitzy with tastes of orange peel and spices. A little metallic.
