We arrived here considerably later than planned, by which time this impressive pub was rather more in restaurant than bar mode – resulting in us all being crammed into a too-small room for our Tongerlo beer tasting. In fact there was time to choose just one beer from the range.

A very large and rather smart restaurant bar standing just outside the impressive complex of Tongerlo Abbey. The Torenhof has been built to mirror the skyline of the abbey itself, and it provides a range of drinking and dining rooms inside, patio seating and a large beer garden. The beer sold comes from the Tongerlo Abbey range, which is brewed by Haacht, Belgium’s largest independent brewery.

We have visited this pub once, seen 1 beer and tried it.
