We arrived at 12:20 to find the pub closed although the 2015 Good Beer Guide says it opens at 12:00. We were about to move on when the landlord came out and said he would open up for us although the normal opening time is 15:00. We were made very welcome.

The pub is found in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 2QY.

In Hadham Road, this pub was present by 1850, possibly earlier, and stands a few minutes’ walk away from the town centre in an area which once had a brick-making industry. It remains a highly traditional house, with separate lounge and public bars, each with its own servery. There is a also an outdoor seating area at the rear. A good supporter of local breweries. Pub under threat in spring 2017 following an application made to demolish and replace with residential.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 6 different beers and tried 3 of them.
