Reunion meeting with some ex-colleagues for a session of liar dice. Spent a very enjoyable 3 hours or so losing £1.80. Good lunch, beer ok. We sat in the restaurant- the downstairs bar was busy all afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wantsum - 13813.80GoodBadged as Blakes Bitter. Good session ale.
Wantsum - 5 Gold Grains5.00GoodGood body, a little sweet for my taste however.

Stop 5, last. All 9 of us still going early evening from a noon start. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Much reminiscing for some in this bar, a new treat for a couple of others. Blakey’s Bitter was also on - a 3.8% offering now brewed by Wantsum for them.

Mid afternoon on a Monday - just two other customers in. The bar area is much as it has been for decades, dark and moody with bank notes from around the world pinned along the ceiling beams - the garden has been expanded with a large stone barbecue, brightly coloured picnic tables and a covered area with soft seats. The toilets have had a serious upgrade since I was last here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wantsum - Montgomery (was SS Richard Montgomery)4.00ExcellentSuper beer in top nick.
Wantsum - More’s Head3.70UndrinkableThis was sour. After I struggled through the top half inch in 10 minutes the barman changed it for a Montgomery. Both Wantsum beers had apparently been tapped at the same time.

Afternoon, quiet. First time that I have notice that the old stillage ex The New Mogul is no longer in place. The garden has a large covered area with soft seats now.

Early evening waiting for my fish and chips to be cooked next door (not recommended). Nice ambience - freebie snacks on the bar. One other beer on tap from Cottage.

Just a very quick visit as a group of people sitting at the big table were talking very loudly.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dartford Wobbler (re-named from Millis) - Blakes Bitter3.70AcceptableA house beer, I thought it looked straw coloured in the lighting conditions in the bar but described as amber coloured on the clip.
Whitstable - Oyster Stout4.50Not TriedOn gravity dispense.

After work - very quiet. The micro pub boom in Dover is taking a toll here according to the staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Weltons - Green Wood Goat4.20ExcellentStraight from the barrel - amber, dry - very nice "golden wheat beer with toasted oats"
Adnams - Lighthouse3.40Not Tried
Weltons - Winter Heat4.90Not Triedmay not have been this beer - I noted it as "winter warmer" - but didn't note the ABV
