This pub closed last week, awaiting demolition and redevelopment of the site as the City creeps ever eastwards.

Evening. 2nd stop on a Truman's hunt but not to be found here. After a conversation about football with the barman he concluded I was a turncoat for changing from his beloved Charlton Athletic in January 1964.

This pub can be very busy in the early evening as the City creeps ever eastwards, but tonight was quiet and civilised. A house beer of unknown origin also on sale.

The pub is found in Spitalfields, Central London, E1 6AG.

This pub, in Brushfield Street, was established by 1839 and named for its proximity to the old artillery firing range which existed here. Along with several other adjoining pubs it was demolished in around 1928, but was rebuilt as part of the 1929 London Fruit and Wool Exchange building. At the time of writing (January 2013) the pub is again under threat of demolition as the whole block is again subject to redevelopment plans. It is a large pub, with much external Truman’s Brewery signage. The main bar is wood-panelled and has a splendid glass ceiling. There is a small snug bar off to one side, and a rear courtyard seating area for use in good weather. An upstairs room is mainly used for dining. 4 handpumps on the bar counter. Closed in 2015 for demolition and redevelopment. Pub of same name has been opened.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 2 of them.
