I met up here with Dave R and it is quiet in the early evening. Disappointing lack of anything brewed on the premises. Dave baulked at the prospect of two hoppy golden beers and drank cider instead, itching to move on.

Launch party tonight for the Solvay Society Brewery. They had been brewing in Walthamstow but have re-located to the cellar here. Pleasantly busy for the event. Three Solvay Society beers on key-keg, alongside three cask conditioned beers. All the Belgian-style beers showed promise to my mind and will improve as the new brewery kit settles in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Solvay Society - Tritium8.90ExcellentVery low carbonation, verging on flat from the key keg. A murky orange colour. A tingle of peppercorn and rye on the tip of the tongue. Intriguing and unusual.
Solvay Society - Structure of Matter5.00GoodA decent Belgian Pale Ale on key keg.
Solvay Society - Columb5.00GoodOn key keg dispense, pale and cloudy. A slightly sour Saison.

Early evening visit with Dave R. The pub is quiet and relaxing. My first chance to try the home brew from here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hops & Glory - English Rose5.50ExcellentAmber/orange in colour. A strong IPA with all-English hops, giving a bitter flavour. The addition of rose petals adds a certain fruity spiciness.
Titanic - English Glory4.50GoodA very good, traditional English Premium Bitter.
London Fields - Shoreditch Triangle IPA6.00Not Tried

I popped in to check out the latest incarnation of this pub – very pleasant – and to watch the first half of the England vs Brasil game on TV. Just a handful of other customers present.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Tyne Bank - Silver Dollar4.90ExcellentI like this beer, which seems widely available at the moment. This pint is very fresh and has a harsh hoppiness to the bottom of the glass.

The pub is found in Canonbury, Greater London, N1 3PF.

This pub was present at the Canonbury end of Essex Road by 1869 and historically went by the name of the Norfolk Arms. Like many pubs, it had fallen on hard times by the opening of the twenty-first century and it passed through a number of guises and a variety of names. In 2010, it returned to traditional pub values as the George Orwell and in December 2012 it passed through another revamp to emerge as Hops & Glory. It is a small, single-roomed, street-corner pub with some nice tiles behind the bar and a candle-lit ambience. A small in-house brewery was launched in early 2014. Sold in February 2018 and renamed and real ale discontinued. No evidence of an on-site brewery now.

We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 15 different beers and tried 8 of them.
