A friend and I had hoped for some cheapo, stand-by theatre tickets. But the plan didn’t come off and we had a couple of pints in here instead. A light mid-evening trade on a wet Monday.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Itchen Valley - Sticklebract4.00GoodA golden beer, with some interesting southern hemisphere hop flavours. But just a bit thin I thought.
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Limehouse Cut4.50AcceptableA competent, brown bitter. Comes across as a session bitter, despite its premium bitter strength.

The pub is found in Covent Garden, Central London, WC2N 4LF.

There has been a pub on this site since the 1600s. Historically, it was tied to the Hoare & Co. brewery in London’s East End, passing to Charrington’s when Hoare closed in 1934. In more recent years it suffered the indignity of conversion to an O’Neill’s chain pub in the 1990s and 2000s. Revival as The White Swan came in the summer of 2012 and the pub is now part of M&B’s Nicholson’s chain. It is relatively spacious compared to most pubs in the area – the ground floor now having a single bar, although the rear area is partially screened and has a more intimate character. There is also a first floor restaurant. Eight handpumps.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 15 different beers and tried 4 of them.
