Second visit of the day before catching a train home, and a welcome from the chap behind the bar. We chatted with a couple from Swale Camra Branch about the Chequers at Doddington.

About 2pm, there was a large queue for taxis at the railway station and we decided to come in here for a pint and order a taxi from the pub. Unfortunately none of the cab firms we tried had any taxis available for at least two and a half hours. Fortunately this pub had a supply of bus timetables on the window ledge so we enjoyed our pint and progressed to the bus stop.

This little pub closed a few days after my previous visit and re-opened a while later in the same ownership as the Flower Pots Inn at Cheriton, home of the Cheriton/Flowerpots Brewery. Quiet this-afternoon as it has no TV and so is not showing the Cup Final – but convenient before my train home.

Tony and I got off the train and spotted this one first. The outside doesn't have the look of a pub; no pub sign and only tatty markings to indicate it's a boozer. The inside was very pleasant though and looked newly decorated.

I had spotted the word ‘Sorachi’ on a pumpclip here when I passed in the morning. Being a sucker for that hop I had to call in before catching my train/bus replacement back to London.
