I was one of the first customers through the door shortly after noon. Unfortunately, no attempt had been made to ready the cask beers. My first three choices were all deemed ‘off’ after much vigorous jerking of the pumps, leaving me with a rather unsatisfactory selection. I list the beers that did appear to be available.

The pub is found in Dronfield, Derbyshire, S18 8ZQ.

This is a modern pub in Pentland Road, located on the huge estate expanding Dronfield into Dronfield Woodhouse. Built in 1967 for Shipstones of Nottingham, it is now a slightly unlikely real ale oasis. Despite its modern appearance, the interior is staunchly traditional, with a variety of seating or vertical drinking opportunities around the large bar area.

We have visited this pub once, seen 4 different beers and tried 2 of them.
