Afternoon visit after Lee chores. Friendly staff, sedate atmosphere but killed by the higher than central London prices, absolutely no justification for that. Visit was one pint and no chance of an imminent return.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Rock - Harvest Pale3.80GoodSlight haze, would expect above perfection at £4.70pp
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10Not Tried£4.60 pp would be scandalous even in central London

Mid afternoon and quiet. Gone a bit trendy for my liking.

I popped in here for 45 minutes in the early evening as I was early for meeting some friends nearby. Eyebrow-raisingly expensive for a suburban pub, but pleasant, busy and clearly popular. I just missed a Shamblemoose Brewery beer which ran out as I arrived.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hop Stuff - Renegade IPA5.60ExcellentGolden in colour. Strong-tasting and full-bodied. Fruity hops, dry finish.
Brockley - Golden Ale3.80GoodGolden in colour. A nice, crisp, refreshing pint.
Caledonian - Golden Promise5.00Not Tried
Hop Stuff - Saisonniers4.50Not Tried
23 May 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. My first visit ever here. At £4 pp just one here - Central London premium price for a low abv beer in the suburbs. Better value elsewhere and nearby.
BeerABVScoreNotes

The pub is found in Lee, Greater London, SE12 8PU.

In Burnt Ash Road close to Lee railway station and on a number of bus routes. Not so long ago this pub picked up the News Shopper newspaper award for Worst Pub in South East London. Completely transformed since - the proprietors have stripped back the walls, taken off the 1970s chintz and stripes. Now pastel blue painted walls and framed pictures. Wooden floors throughout and high quality seats, chairs and tables. Lower level at the back is down several steps. Garden for summer days! Snacks and meals menu. Regular live music sessions and other organised activities. Very expensive real ale for the area served through 5 handpumps. Acquired by Fuller's in spring 2016.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 26 different beers and tried 7 of them.
