My first visit to this lovely little pub for a very long time. Pleasant and quiet in the afternoon after I had made a hospital visit in the town.

Holler (formerly Holler Boys) - Loot5.50ExcellentA great example of one of these new-fangled, cloudy, fruity and juicy New England IPAs. So good to find this kind of thing in cask.

This pub is now run by Jeffrey Bell aka Stonch, the original(?)beer blogger.Busy on a cloudy March Saturday lunchtime.A bit different from the last time I visited in the 80s,when there was a grumpy landlord and a parrot.

We arrived 10 minutes before it opened so we sat outside the nearby castle and watched people take pictures of cannon. By the time we'd lost interest in that and wandered back to the pub it was already filling up. Popular.

Evening. A group was preparing to play live music. Looked like some huge portions of fish being doled out to some diners but for me food smells ruin what could be a most atmospheric pub.
