Visits Details

03 Dec 2021 (Philip Pirrip)
Brief evening visit. When told no cask on the handpumps these days turned tail and skedaddled.

10 Jul 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit. Odd lighting here, dim at front and a lightish blue white in much of the back room.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Laine - Brighton (North Laine) - Doubloon4.20AcceptableCloying to the palate and seemed rather tired
By The Horns - Stiff Upper Lip (downgraded from 3.8% in 2023)3.40Not TriedTaster had signs of being on the way out
Laine - Breaker4.10Not Tried
11 Feb 2019 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit to this newly re-opened and re-named pub. I think the prices (£4.55pp for cask) will have the effect of deterring previous customers for newly enriched ones.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Laine - Mosaic Gold4.00ExcellentNot sure from which Laine's brewery site, certainly the clip does not divulge this
Brockley - Red Ale4.80GoodA very rich tasting, perhaps too rich tasting ale
Wild Beer Co. - Bibble4.20Not Tried
27 Apr 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until close.

Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10UndrinkableAs Blackadder might say, this was an unholy liaison between Mr Sarson and Mrs Murk. Replaced without question

The pub is found in Catford, Greater London, SE6 4BD.

Recently called the Goose on the Green and then Goose Catford which reverted back to its original name after refurbishment and a re-opening in late November 2014. It is located in Rushey Green opposite the town hall and The Broadway Theatre. One main front bar and a semi-circular bar counter with 3 handpumps (at December 2021 not used) facing the front windows. Large rear room area with a stage for live music. Impressive bar back which is probably not original. Period of closure then relaunched by the Laine Pub Company, a Brighton based outfit now owned by one of the big boy companies, with its new name too in early February 2019 and having an eclectic range of tables and seating. Function room on the 1st floor and a 9 room "immersive theatre experience" is planned for the 2nd floor as a separate entrance chargeable enterprise.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 5 of them.
