Regular first Friday ‘Yard Party’ at the brewery. I’m quite early for a quick one and there are not many people here yet. Nice set up.

The second of first Friday of the month openings of a bar at the brewery. Much better weather this month and a correspondingly bigger crowd. As well as a quick pint, I ate a very tasty beef burger (no longer neccessarily the non-sequitur it sounds these days).

The first of a series of first Friday of the month ‘Yard Parties’ at the brewery premises, where a nice bar area has been developed. Five cask conditioned beers and one more on keg, plus a German sausage barbeque. Weather a bit chilly unfortunately.

An enjoyable and well-attended launch party for Truman’s new brewery, at last on-stream in East London. It is a well-organised event with two bars (bright beer on gravity dispense), cheap prices, a barbeque, live music and straw bales to sit on. Many familiar faces here – and I found somebody else who, like me, had attended the Truman’s return to real ale launch event back in the early 1980s.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E3 2NT.
The original Truman’s Brewery in Brick Lane, East London had been established in 1666 and at one time in the 19th century was the largest brewery in the world. It continued to be a major player right up to its closure in 1989. The name was revived in 2010 and Truman’s beers were brewed on a contract basis, first by Nethergate and later by Everard’s. In September 2013 the brewery returned to its East London origins, opening a large, 40 barrel plant on Fish Island, Hackney Wick. There are plans to open a sampling room at the brewery, but for now it is only open to the public for special events. Closed 2022.
