Comfortably busy on an infrequent mid week visit: we'd come for a family meal.I had been here years ago, way before the fire-I don't remember much about it, but it retains a familiar prosperous atmosphere.

My first visit here and liked the atmosphere, we decided to occupy a table at the bar level vice the more opulent surroundings by the main entrance.

Evening. Hoping to find some local ales here but overall a bad experience. Just one friendly barman serving and trying to cope with restaurant drinks orders and bar customers leading to long 7 minute wait to get served and several others even longer. Someone should have come to help him.

The pub is found in Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7JT.

Long established hotel in the High Street, 34 luxurious bedrooms, extensive dining facilities and a Georgian ballroom. Straight in front of the main entrance is a low ceilinged small bar for wet sales purchasers. Its bar counter sports 4 handpumps. Closed after a major fire on 20th July 2019. Finally re-opened on 18th May 2022.
