I popped in for a quick one as I had not been here for many years. I discovered that the price of my beer was £2.40 for a half and £4.85 for a pint. I opted for a half.

Late evening visit. Ludicrously loud vinyl music being played when people just wanted to talk to each other.

Once upon a time, when the world was considerably younger and I worked nearby, I used this pub quite a lot. Haven’t been here for donkey’s though. Nice and relaxed on Sunday afternoon, with a ‘bring your own vinyl’ thing going on.

09 Jul 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening late, as brief a visit as I could make it with slow clearance of dirty glasses and music blaring when everyone was just trying to talk. Offered one of the grimmest short measures seen for yonks.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bath Ales - Gem Bitter4.10AcceptableNow St Austell owned, will it go the way of Doom Bar. Did not taste quite right to me, too cloying

11 Oct 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. A visit for old times sake but not a patch on its old existence when it had a beautiful enormous Hooper Struve mirror on one wall and a large ceiling mounted circular gas heater that could toast the unwary.

The pub is found in Charing Cross, Central London, WC2N 4HS.

Formerly the Marquis of Granby this pub has had a makeover in recent years which has added some ecclesiastical looking partitions and booth separators. At the east end the ground floor is wedge shaped. The downstairs bar counter is marble effect and has 4 handpumps. Some of the furnishing is distressed shabby chic. There is a narrow staircase leading up to an upstairs bar open at times for food and has a single handpump, and which may also be hired for private functions. Rear alley for smokers.

We have visited this pub 8 times, seen 19 different beers and tried 7 of them.
