Pub number four on a tour of Plumstead and Woolwich. Doom Bar was on offer for £2 per pint but I declined the offer. We picked up copies of the latest London Drinker in here and also noted that Timothy Taylor's Landlord is normally available here, but alas, not today.

Post lunchtime one other customer in this fine wood panelled pub. Jazz music playing in the background.

Evening in the public bar. Chatty locals with vivid recollections of closed Plumstead and Woolwich pubs. To Let sign outside implies imminent retirement of long serving licensees.

The pub is found in Plumstead, Greater London, SE18 2UL.

Street corner local previously Star Inn, formerly owned by Beasley's then Courage, which is located on the brow of Bird's Nest Hollow leading up to Plumstead Common. Amazingly until 2019 retained its multi-roomed compartmentalised interior with 3 separate entrances and partitions between bars but these were stripped out to become a single room then. The saloon lounge bar is an obvious later addition - probably inter-war. The Star Inn is traditionally known as one of the 5 Plumstead Common Idlers - in its case as the Star than had never shone. A pub with good old-fashioned values made it a rarity until closed early November 2018 for refurbishment and transfer from tenanted and managed house status.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 4 different beers and tried them all.
