A great pub, my first time here. Shame we had only time for a fleeting visit in the late-afternoon.

12:45 Second stop on our tour of heritage pubs. The bar itself was fully occupied by two men and two dogs so we sampled the snug and the right hand bar which is a 1980s conversion to a public room which matches the style of the original parts of the pub.

Wonderful old pub with many nooks and crannies. Set on common land just outside Wakefield.

The pub is found in Heath, West Yorkshire, WF1 5SL.

On Heath Common a short distance from Wakefield it was acquired by Clark's Brewery in 1989 and is now leased to Ossett Brewery. Built in the early 1700s and converted into a public house in 1841, it consists of 3 oak-panelled rooms with gas lighting, plus a conservatory and gardens to the rear. The pub has over thirty working gas lights, possibly the largest number in any UK pub.
