Late evening visit, only customer in. More a nostalgic visit to recall the old days when Young's was Young's with good old basic boozers. They keep one Young's Bitter clip on a dummy handpump for old time's sake.

Evening. Pub's website at 6.30 said it had re-opened after 12 weeks of refurbishment. Special visit to view the changes resulted in finding a closed pub with builders' rubble and debris in the front yard. Dearey me a wasted visit.

Evening. A building site at the moment and closed for business. A sign outside says TLC is taking place until reopening on 2nd July 2014.

Third stop on the SE London crawl and an unscheduled one, but as it was right next door to the Greenwich Union, I had to go in didn't I?

Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70AcceptableFirst Young's Bitter in a Young's pub since the move of brewing to Bedford. It's a bit unintegrated. The water, yeast and malt all appear to be separate ingredients. Hop finish is good though. Still one of my favourite standard bitter but this pint was odd.

The pub is found in Greenwich, Greater London, SE10 8RT.

Traditional 2 room pub with smaller public bar and larger saloon bar. Lots of wood and more recently pastel shades. Large patio garden. More of a pub feel than the Greenwich Union next door. Often still called Tolly's or The Tolly by locals who remember its past ownership by The Tollemache Brewery which, of course, later combined with Cobbold Brewery to create Tolly Cobbold. Closed in Spring and early Summer 2014 for major refurbishment and upgrade, whatever upgrade means. 9 handpumps being in banks of 3 and 6. In 2022 the work was finalised to incorporate the former pub next door into the pub.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 6 different beers and tried 2 of them.
