Late evening visit until close. Massed pavement crowd made getting in the first hurdle to overcome. Never seen so many empty casks piled up outside awaiting collection.

Late evening visit until close. Not been here for nearly 7 years despite being local and lots of changes with road outside now pedestrianised with added covered pavement seating and pub has been extended into premises next door. A pub I have never really taken to, though I can see the attraction for some.
BeerABVScoreNotes

A festival of Irish beers is in progress and a large crowd has gathered by early evening. Most of the beers are in cask form, available by gravity dispense on a stillage, and a few are in keg or key-keg. A really good event. I list only those beers which I drank myself.
BeerABVScoreNotes

The family were at a panto in Deptford so my brother and I went for a wander. Deptford high street seems to have only 1 pub, which just had larger taps, so we gave up trying to find a pub and decided to go look at the Thames. After wandering in the general direction of the river we turned a derelict corner and found this place. A real gem!

Evening. Friday Evening Group venue for January. Have never spent so long here and perhaps now appreciate this is one of the few proper cask boozers left in SE London, as compared to the newer Beer Boutique houses.

My first visit here and I used the latest copy of the South East London Pub Guide (1994)to find it. According to the map I should have passed seven pubs on the way from the Railway Station, now there is just one left on the way, a place which my guide lists as Mamie O'Learys but now appears to be the White Swan. I was very impressed with the Dog and Bell, a proper pub with bar billiards and good value pub grub.

The pub is found in Deptford, Greater London, SE8 3JD.

On the Thames Path in Prince Street, this is a great community pub which may prove difficult to find. Front room has the bar to the side plus a couple more large rooms on several levels and with a rear patio. Bar Billards table at the back. Bare boarded round the bar but carpeted elsewhere. Excellent range of bottled Belgian beers in fridges behind the bar. Good local pub feel. 15 handpumps (in 3 banks, each of 5) dispense a good range of UK regionals and micros. Regular geographically themed beer festivals are held. Former SPBW London Pub of the Year in 2005, 2009 and 2011. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2020. Recently extended into the premises next door and has added extensive covered seating on the now pedestrianised road outside.

We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 51 different beers and tried 31 of them.
