Late evening buzzing friendly locals pub a few minutes from the town centre tourist trade. Well sought first choice upon arriving here a short while ago. Beer range and quality worthy of its GBG entry plus a big thumbs up from me for its bias towards light pale coloured ales.

Early evening visit - rather disappointed - my previous visit, and word of mouth from a “beery boater” suggested this would be a real ale haven - but only two of the ten handpumps in use. The garden was also rather overgrown- didn’t feel like a much-loved pub. The one beer I tried was however delicious.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ossett - Silver King4.30ExcellentLovely dry hoppiness in sparkling condition.

13:00 Came here for lunch after a ride on the steam railway. The pub was in a poor state before the current owners took it over and the renovation is still very much a work in progress. Steady trade, mainly diners. Excellent selection of music playing from a Yellow Submarine themed Juke Box. Unusual sample board of brewing ingredients.

Watermill - A Bit'er Ruff4.10ExcellentBarmaid said it was a traditional bitter and she was spot on.

Early evening, very quiet. Pleasant drink in the garden - invited back for a quiz later but didn't make it. Uses oversize glasses - sign of a true real ale drinkers pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Windermere - Wordsworth's Golden4.20ExceptionalRemarkable - nose like a Kentish hop garden - with a taste and body to complement it perfectly.
Marston's - Long Hop4.00ExcellentExcellent citrus hoppiness.
Enville - Ale4.50GoodFruity, quite sweet.
