Early evening visit, I had a good chat with the landlord. A fantastic pub with enthusiastic management and friendly locals.

11:30 Four of us came here by taxi from Leeds railway station to meet Mick Slaughter who was photographing the pub interior following some minor renovations carried out by Leeds Brewery. Our visit included a tour of the cellar.

The pub is found in Hunslet, West Yorkshire, LS10 2QB.

In Whitfield Place, built in 1903 this Grade II* listed pub is a must visit for anyone interested in Heritage Pubs. There are four separate rooms with a corridor used for stand up drinking running the length of the pub. Two rooms have no bar and are served from a hatch in the corridor, of the other two, one is served from a hatch behind the bar counter whilst the other contains the bar counter. The front of the bar is a magnificent green tiled edifice. The cellar still contains the changing room and shower from when a rugby team was based at the pub. Despite the sale of its other pubs to Camerons in mid 2016 Leeds Brewery retained ownership of this house. Currently closed, condition deteriorating and at real risk. Re-opened Friday 2nd February 2024 after about 2 years of closure.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 10 different beers and tried 3 of them.
